Just a day after Google released the final version of Google Chrome for Android, the company is bringing its popular web browser to iOS.
Google showcased the browser at Google I/O running on the iPhone and iPad. As with the Android version of the browser, users can sync browser tabs and bookmarks with Chrome instances on the desktop and other mobile devices.
Users will also be able to surf “incognito” for those that don’t want their browsing histories saved to their devices.
In spite of Apple’s tight rules that prevent third-party browsers from replacing Safari as the “default” browsing option (meaning that links users tap in mail, messages or other apps won’t open in a third-party browser and will always default to Safari), the iOS third-party market is surprisingly robust.
Chrome will join the likes of Dolphin, Opera and my personal favorite, iCab Mobile [iTunes link].
And it’s not just Chrome that’s coming to iOS Google is bringing Google Drive to the platform as well. This will give users the ability to access and upload their Google Drive docs on the go.
Chrome for iOS and Google Drive for iOS will be released later today and we’ll be sure to give both the full hands-on treatment.
